Stanley has no shortage of tape measure offerings, but the brand says the Control-Lock series brings some much-needed updates to the lineup. We’re going over what each model brings to the table and how the line as a whole improves upon Stanley's tried-and-true formula.
Stanley focused on both a lightweight design and a rugged, durable body with the creation of the Control-Lock lineup. There are five models, ranging from 12 feet to 30 feet in length. Plus, with an integrated finger brake (except on the 12-foot model), you get more control and protection when you extend and retract the blade.
These tape measures feature 1-inch blade width and a maximum reach of 12 feet. The outside housing is coated in a rubber overmold casing for added durability.
The hook is also double-sided to latch onto an edge using either side of the blade. Additionally, each tape measure includes Stanley's BladeArmor which protects the first three inches of the tape and helps avoid hook damage.
This is the smallest model in the lineup, and as such, it doesn't include the finger brake like its larger counterparts.
